Bankhead Hwy: Subway In Place of Sonic

A Subway restaurant will soon be relocating from Tower Plaza to the nearby building once occupied by Sonic Drive-In. The new location will be one of the first Subway restaurants in the west Georgia area to feature a drive -thru.

“We will be adding a drive-thru for the convenience of our customers, as well as more seating,” said Tim Plews, Director of Development for Subway. “This particular location will have a combination of both patio seating and indoor seating.”

According to Plews, only about five percent of Subway restaurants across the United States include a drive-thru.

“The existing store has been there for 30 years or so, and we were looking to expand the business by going into a free standing building with a drive-thru,” said Plews.

Customers will also have an added measure of convenience as the new location will also take orders through the Subway app.

“We are hoping to have the new location open by the summer—possibly by June,” said Plews. “Right now, we are in the process of getting permits. We will soon be moving equipment from the existing restaurant into the new location.”
