Parking Lot on Old City Hall Avenue to Close Soon for Construction

The parking lot between Old City Hall Avenue and East Ward Street will be closed for construction purposes from March 20-31. Carrollton City Manager Tim Grizzard said the parking lot will be closed to allow workers to install a storm water line from a new housing development to the location.

The parking lot is located behind Southwire and Smith Brothers along Old City Hall Avenue.

“There are plans to build eight single-family housing units on property between East Reese and Rhudy Streets,” said Grizzard. “The storm water line will go from that property to the parking lot behind Southwire.”

Grizzard noted that the East Reese and Rhudy Streets property was zoned in 2015 for upscale housing units.“The housing units that are going in right there are very upscale, and have strict zoning conditions,” said Grizzard. “The units will be priced at $300,000-plus.”

The parking lot is expected to reopen by March 31.
